Economic Development
Ascension Economic Development Corporation: The AEDC is responsible for implementing economic development programs to the benefit of the citizens of Ascension Parish, including the Town of Sorrento.   www.ascensionedc.com



Permits and License
All building permits are issued through the Ascension Parish Building Permit Department except for House and/or Trailer Moving Permits.  You can contact Ascension Parish at 225-450-1002 for questions regarding building permits.  For information on House and/or Mobile Home Moving Permits, please click the Printable Form links below:



Planning and Zoning
The Planning and Zoning Board administers our town's codes and regulations.

Property Taxes

  • Town taxes are assessed by the Ascension Parish Assessor Office and payable at the Town Hall or you can pay online by clicking "pay taxes" on the home page .  For more information contact 225-675-5337. 
  • Parish taxes are assessed by the Ascension Parish Assessor Office and payable to the Ascension Parish Sheriff.

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Article 7, Section 23(C) of the Louisiana Constitution and R.S. 47:1705(B) that a public hearing of the Town of Sorrento in Ascension Parish will be held at its regular meeting place in the Sorrento Community Center, located at 7471 Main Street, Sorrento, LA on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. to consider levying additional or increased millage rates without further voter approval or adopting the adjusted millage rates after reassessment and rolling forward to rates not to exceed the prior year’s maximum. The estimated amount of tax revenues to be collected in the next year from the increased millage is $88,468, and the amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage increase is $3,470.
